Zimmerman@75: The Heart of Campus is a visually stunning documentary about the history of Zimmerman Library, seen through the eyes of architects, artists, administrators, students, staff, and the community. Since opening in 1938 Zimmerman Library has been in continuous use and remains a vital part of the UNM experience. Filmmaker Aracely Chapa has produced and directed an emotional and reverential tribute to Zimmerman’s past as well as its future, with generous funding from the UNM Center for Regional Studies.
The film will be followed by a panel presentation about the movie and the library with:
Nancy Meem Wirth, daughter of architect John Gaw MeemVan H. Gilbert, Architect for the 1993 addition to Zimmerman Library
Andrew Connors, Curator of Art, Albuquerque Museum
Audra Bellmore, Curator, John Meem Archives of Southwestern Architecture at University Libraries
