The following electronic resources will help you find journal, magazine, and newspaper articles. A common way to locate a journal article is to use a database or index (such as EBSCOhost or Gale Group) and search for a topic of interest. Some of the research databases and indexes cover specific subjects while others are multidisciplinary.
The UNM University Libraries subscribes to and pays for access to these databases. Due to licensing agreements with these vendors, the resources can be accessed by computers on the UNM network or off-campus with the use of an UNM or HSC NetID for authentication.
For information about the appropriate use of these resources see the Electronic Resources Usage Guidelines. Visit the Known Issues With Accessing Electronic Resources page if you have difficulty using the remote links.
Pronto Subject Search
Subject specialists in the library have developed
lists of the most useful databases for specific subjects. Pronto allows you to search multiple databases simultaneously. Pronto also has an Advanced Search that allows you to create a multidisciplinary search and/or include multiple index fields.
Alphabetical Database List
This is an alphabetical list of the electronic resources subscribed
to by the University Libraries. Use this list for a quick link to a specific
database.
Database trials are occasionally available (usually for Main Campus access only).
The University Libraries subscribes to many databases that are available to students at the UNM branch campuses. These are located on a separate list.
Article Finder
Do you have a citation and want to find the quickest way to the article? Then use Article Finder!
eJournal Finder
eJounal Finder is the tool to use to find the full-text of journal and magazine articles available online through the numerous electronic
databases to which we subscribe. Search this service by the journal name if you have a citation for an article and are trying to locate the
full-text electronically.
Journal One Search
Journal One Search is a tool designed to allow the user to do a single
search for journal holdings in LIBROS (the University Libraries catalog),
HESTIA (the HSLIC catalog) and eJournal Finder.
UNM Repository DSpaceUNM
This site is a digital archive for The University of New Mexico's research
and creative works. It's an open access tool for collecting, disseminating,
and preserving the intellectual output of the UNM community.
Google
Scholar (BETA)
Although Google Scholar is a free search engine, this link takes you through
our proxy server (requests your UNM NetID and password) to take advantage
of the linking features. GoogleScholar will link to some - not all - of
the online journals to which the University Libraries subscribes as well
as many other resources. Use the "Check for UNM Full Text" link
to see if the article is available through a UNM subscription.
Before doing a search, click on "Scholar Preferences." Under "Library
Links", put "University of New Mexico" in the "Find
Library" box. We also suggest that you check the box for "Open
WorldCat." This will better ensure that you get access to those materials
to which the University Libraries subscribes.
If you have any questions please Ask a Librarian - 277-9100.
Library Catalogs
LIBROS is the online library catalog for most UNM campus libraries. You cannot directly search for individual articles in LIBROS but you can search for the titles of journals and magazines to see if we have a subscription.
Check HESTIA, the Health Sciences Center Library catalog, for journal titles in medical disciplines.
Interlibrary Loan
UNM students, faculty and staff can request articles that UNM does not
own or have access to by using Interlibrary
Loan services.
Microforms preserve otherwise fragile materials for long term use and provide a compact means of storing large collections. The UNM University Libraries holds 4 million microforms; these materials comprise a significant portion of the Library's holdings and help support research in a number of areas. Centennial, Fine Arts, Parish, and Zimmerman libraries house microforms in film and fiche format. These collections are listed as part of the LIBROS online catalog.
Guide to Latin American

such as domestic and foreign policy, international relations, cultural
issues, and arts.
