Robb Music Archive

The John Donald Robb Archive of Southwestern Music is dedicated to preserving the musical heritage of New Mexico and the Southwest. Created in 1964, the archive has grown to nearly 33,000 entries on more than 1,600 reels of audio tape. The archive's collections preserve examples of the rich cultural milieu of Southwestern music.

Today the archive houses more than 38 individual collections, including that of former University of New Mexico Fine Arts Dean John Donald Robb, for whom the archive is named. Each collection has been placed in the archive with specific directions for its use. Most of the collections may be used in the Anderson Reading Room; however, transcribing, copying and other uses varies with each collection. Advance inquiry is encouraged.
