II. BULLFIGHTER PORTRAIT SERIES

The bullfighter portrait series has been attributed to Posada, who was trained in lithography, an art he also taught. Upon arrival in Mexico City, he found that publishers were more interested in illustrations that could be printed in the same press run as type. This unsigned series combining lithography and type may represent a transitional phase in Posada's career.
