Reproduction Policies

Patrons may request photocopies or other duplicates of materials. Some items cannot be copied due to fragile condition or other restrictions. Copy requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The patron is responsible for complying with all copyright laws and restrictions.

  1. Books and periodicals in good condition may be copied, one item at a time, by patrons at the CSWR photocopier. Please request permission from the ARR librarian and leave a picture ID in exchange for the item.
  2. Archival materials (manuscripts, photoarchives, UNM archives, architectural archives, and video and audio materials) are copied by staff only. Please ask the ARR librarian for duplication forms and instructions for marking materials. Prices processes and turn-around times differ according to the type of material.
  3. Permission to examine archival materials is not an authorization to publish them. Permission to publish must be obtained from the copyright holder.
  4. All archival materials used in publishing must be properly cited and credited to the CSWR in the following format:
    1. [Description and date of item]
    2. [Box and/or folder or item number]
    3. [Name and number of the collection]
    4. Center for Southwest Research, University Libraries, University of New Mexico.

If you have any questions about CSWR policies or usage procedures, please ask the ARR librarian on duty.
