Herzstein Latin American Reading Room Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Aim:

Our aim is to provide self-service access to current Latin American literature and information, thereby stimulating greater interest in the region and facilitating the work of Latin Americanists.

Mission: The mission of the Herzstein Latin American Reading Room is to provide a functional and pleasant space to house current issues of selected newspapers, magazines, and journals received by Zimmerman Library in the fields of Latin American and Iberian studies, to promote greater awareness of the Library's specialized Latin American holdings by organizing regular displays of such material in its exhibition gallery, to offer online access to a broad range of Latin American and Iberian information and scholarly resources via the computers located in the Room, and to offer scheduled use of its conference room consistent with the policy governing such use. The Room serves the University community and the residents of New Mexico and is open during the same hours as Zimmerman Library. Use of the materials and computers will be on a self-service basis. Those requiring additional information or specialized reference assistance will be referred to the appropriate library staff or department via handouts and signs.
