Mission
Statement

The Mission
of the unit is to meet the varied information needs of the university’s
instructional, research, and outreach programs in Latin American
and Iberian studies and to work creatively to achieve this goal
with other local, national, and international organizations.
To fulfill this mission DILARES:
- collaborates
with University centers, institutes, departments and colleges.
- selects,
acquires, catalogs, preserves, and provides access to
scholarly resources and information in all formats from
and about Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
- provides
reference service, library instruction, and a wide range
of networked resources to students, faculty, and other
patrons.
- helps
generate new research and knowledge by providing scholars
access to unique and specialized Ibero-American materials.
- develops
and implements projects for the digital preservation
of specialized collections.
- provides
information and interpretive context about this collection
to the scholarly community and to general audiences through
exhibits, speakers series, publications, and other
events.
- identifies
and attracts additional support for collections and services
through fundraising and grant-writing.
- participates
in and contributes to regional, national, and international
consortial activity designed to enhance Latin American
and Iberian library resources and services.
