Group Study Room Reservation System at UNM University Libraries

There are Group Study Rooms in a variety of sizes and with various amenities available in each of the four branch libraries—Centennial Science and Engineering Library (CSEL), Fine Arts & Design Library (FADL), Parish Memorial Business and Economics Library (PML), and Zimmerman Library (ZIM)—on the UNM Main campus. Any University student, faculty, or staff member may reserve and use available group study rooms.

Group study rooms are intended for the use of a group of people needing a place in which to study where talking or discussion is necessary. Group study rooms are not intended for use as office spaces or as classroom meeting locations. A room may be assigned to an individual when no group has requested its use. During extended hours at the University Libraries, exceptions may be made to this policy based on availability of resources.

Many of the rooms are available on a First Come, First Served basis, including individual study rooms in CSEL and PML, and larger rooms in CSEL and PML. Zimmerman Library has individual rooms (locked carrels) available to graduate students enrolled in the 699 Thesis/Dissertation course. Rooms are checked out to individuals for one (1) year. There is a waiting list for these rooms and more information can be obtained from the Service Desk on the 1st floor of Zimmerman Library. Individual rooms (locked carrels) are also available for checkout to Anderson School of Management (ASM) students. Information about these rooms can be obtained from the Service Desk in PML

Groups may reserve a study room for up to two hours at a time. Rooms may be renewed or reserved for a longer period of time depending on the availability of resources. Reservations are given priority. Groups who have not made a reservation may be asked to relocate. Due to increased demand for group study rooms, groups are given priority. As there is a limited number of group study rooms, reservations may be monitored for equitable use, and may be modified at the discretion of Library Staff. If you are studying alone, you may be asked to relocate. Room reservation will be held for 15 (fifteen) minutes after the hour of the reservation. In the Fine Arts & Design Library, Parish Library, and Zimmerman Library, access to group study rooms requires a key you check out from the Service Desk. Failure to check out the key may result in a canceled reservation and reassignment of the room. The reservation will be deleted and the room will be available for reassignment.

Group Study room use is restricted to current students, staff and faculty members of UNM with a current valid UNM ID. Reservations for group study rooms may be made in advance.

The table below lists all UL Study Room resources. The last column indicates whether or not that room can be reserved. Available technology, such as flat screen televisions, and resources, such as white boards, vary from room to room. Check the “Notes” column for more information about each room.

Chalk, erasers, dry erase markers and erasers can be obtained at the service desks in each library branch.

Spaces for groups larger than 10 (ten) people may be available on a case-by-case basis when not already scheduled by University Libraries staff. Please contact the service desks at PML, CSEL, and Zimmerman Library for more information and room availability.
