The Frank M. Chapman Memorial Fund gives grants in aid of ornithological research and also postdoctoral fellowships. While there is no restriction on who may apply, the Committee particularly welcomes and favors applications from graduate students; projects in game management and the medical sciences are seldom funded. Applications are reviewed once a year and must be submitted no later than 15 January, with all supporting material. Application forms may be obtained from the Frank M. Chapman Memorial Fund Committee, Department of Ornithology, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th Street, New York, NY 10024-5192 USA. No new postdoctoral fellowships were awarded. Fellowships to Richard Prum and Jeffery Woodbury were extended through the 1990 year. Two collection study grants for the 1990 year were awarded to Steven M. Goodman, for work on birds of southeastern Madagascar, and to C. J. Hazevoet, for work on the avifauna of the Cape Verde Islands. Forty-three Chapman grants for 1990, totaling $23,655, with a mean of $550, were awarded to the following: Timothy Armstrong, Graded vocalizations of female Red-winged Blackbirds; Sharon Birks, Paternity assess- ment in a promiscuous megapode; Donald Burr, Behavioral ecology of the Texas Scrub Jay, Aphelocoma coerulescens texana; Alice Cassidy, Song variation and learning in Song Sparrows (Melospiza melodia); Ken Chan, A comparative study of migrant and resident Silvereyes (Zosterops lateralis); Thomas Davisß Egg cooling and wetting: necessary evils in Muscovy Duck egg incubation; Linda S.
