Books
LIBROS is the online library
catalog of the University Libraries. It provides access to books, journals,
maps, microforms, sound recordings, videos, and similar items owned by the
UNM Libraries and other New Mexico member institutions. Materials that are
not located in the Library Catalog (LIBROS) can be
requested through InterLibrary
Loan.
To search for books by subject using LIBROS, choose Subject, and use terms from the Library of Congress Subject Headings such as the following:
Directories and Encyclopedias
- Encyclopedia of Associations: International Organizations. Provides descriptions and contact information for multinational, bi-inational organizations and national groups based throughout the world.
- Europa World Yearbook-2 volumes Covers political, economic & commercial institutions of the "world", including astatistical survey for each country. The first volume begins with a description of all international organizations. This is followed by country coverage.

- African Development Bank
- Established in 1964, the Bank began operations in July 1966 with the aim of financing economic development and social progress in African countries.
- Asian Development Bank
- Established in 1966, the Bank provides loans and equity investments for economic/social development of member countries and gives technical assistance for development projects.
- Bank for International Settlements
- The BIS is an international organisation which fosters cooperation among central banks and other agencies in pursuit of monetary and financial stability. Their annual report contains data on industrial and emerging markets.
- Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM)
- Created in 1973, replacing the Caribbean Free Trade Association founded in 1965. Main focus is upon economic integration, by means of a Caribbean Common Market.
- European Union
- Previously known as the European Community. Provides framework for the construction of a united Europe, with increased intergovernmental cooperation in economic & monetary affairs.
- Inter-American Development Bank (IADB)
- Founded in 1959 to promote economic development of member countries through financing of economic and social development projects and the provision of technical assistance.
- International Energy Agency (IEA)
- The IEA is an autonomous body established in 1974 within the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to implement international energy programs.
- International Monetary Fund (IMF)
- The IMF is a multinational organization of 182 member- nations that was established in 1945. It facilitates monetary cooperation among its members and a multilateral system of payments.
- Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)
- The OECD is a multinational organization with 29 member nations. Seeks to stimulate economic cooperation among its members, expand world trade, and coordinate assistance for less developed countries of the world.
- Organization of American States (OAS)
- Founded in 1948 to succeed the International Union of American Republics. Fosters peace, security, mutual understanding and co-operation among nations of Western Hemisphere.
- United Nations (UN)
- The United Nations is a multinational organization with 185 member countries. It seeks to identify and solve international disputes that threaten world peace and security. It encourages the discussion and understanding of international issues including economic development.
- World Bank (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development)

"The World Bank" is the common name for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and its affiliate, the International Development Association (IDA) and is owned by the governments of 181 countries. It finances lending operations directed towards developing nations to stimulate their economic and social growth. Its Jolis Library Catalog includes the publicly available library resources of the network of 14 World Bank and IMF libraries.
- World Resources Institute
- Provides links to sites dealing with World Development Banks and Regional Organizations; Networks and NGOs; and United Nations Organizations. Includes World Resources Yearbook.
- World Trade Organization (WTO)
- The WTO is the legal and institutional foundation of the multilateral trading system. It was established in January 1995 as the successor the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and comprises 132 member countries.
- Researching WTO and Gatt
- This guide, which is focused on sources from the United States, gives assistance for doing research on the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the preceding system under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).

- The Union of International Associations
- The UIA in Brussels provides an excellent starting point for finding inter-governmental organizations on the Web. Selected from the 'Yearbook of International Organizations', links to over 11,000 international organizations are provided. The 'Subject Areas' indexing is particularly useful for its very specific topics.
