Books
LIBROS is the online library
catalog of the University Libraries. It provides access to books, journals,
maps, microforms, sound recordings, videos, and similar items owned by the
UNM Libraries and other New Mexico member institutions. Materials that are
not located in the Library Catalog (LIBROS) can be
requested through InterLibrary
Loan.

- BBB Wise Giving Alliance

The Alliance, formed by the merger of the National Charities Information Bureau and the Council of Better Business Bureaus, reports on nationally soliciting charitable organizations. Their reports respond to donor inquiries about said charitable organizations.
- Charity Navigator
- This site rates nonprofits' use of their funds. It has a database of over eleven hundred charities searchable by keyword, category, or region.
- Charity Watch

The goal of Charity Watch is to provide materials, information, and guidelines needed to help in making decisions regarding contributions to charitable organizations.
- The Chronicle of Philanthropy

An excellent source of information for those working in the nonprofit field. It includes information on gifts and grants, products and services, conferences and seminars, current news, and managing non-profit organizations.
- FirstGov.gov for Nonprofits
- Federal government site provides links to U.S. government information and services for nonprofits. Resources include directories of federal government grants and loans, guides to state nonprofit incorporation, and IRS publications on federal tax-exempt status. .
- The Foundation Center

An independent nonprofit information clearinghouse that produces a number of publications including the Guide to U.S. Foundations, National Directory of Corporate Giving, and The Foundation Grants Index and maintains libraries in five cities. While primarily a promoter of their own publications and their fee based database, the site includes the Philanthropy News Digest and Grantmaker web sites that provides links to over 350 private, corporate, public and community foundations and charities. Each link is annotated to provide a grantmaker's areas of interest, geographic focus, and/or giving limitations. Additionally, FC Stats provides access to a wealth of free statistical data on U.S. foundations and their funding patterns.

- Provides information on over 300 European foundations as well as some in the Middle East. Searching can be done by country, name or subject.
- GiveSpot

From StartSpot Mediaworks, GiveSpot is a well-designed and thought-out site which presents charitable organizations, foundations, volunteer oportunities, organ donations, and more. Additionally, it provides links to other StartSpot portals.
- Guidestar

A database of some 650,000 nonprofit organizations which can be searched by subject, type, income range, state, and keywords.
- First Nations Development Institute

Non-profit organization that provides grants and technical assistance for economic development for Native peoples and also publishes Business Alert newsletter. Links to federal, tribal, and development resources.
- Idealist

This site includes extensive directories of nonprofit organizations by state, nation, and internationally with a search engine to find a particular organization by name or focus. It also contains information on jobs and internships, volunteer opportunities, upcoming events, current news, conference calendar, and links to other non-profit sites.
- Internet Nonprofit Center

This site offers information for and about nonprofit organizations in the United States, including information on a wide range of topics of interest to leaders and managers of nonprofit organizations.
- The National Center for Charitable Statistics

The NCCS is the national repository of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States. The Center was established in 1982 and has been a program of the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy (CNP) at the Urban Institute since July 1996. The NCCS web site provides databases, data documentation, state profiles of nonprofits and various fact sheets and policy briefs. Some fees may apply. There are extensive links to other sites in this field.
- National Council of Nonprofit Associations

The NCNA is a network of state and regional nonprofit associations. Their Nonprofit Resources include web links, news, employment opportunities, and nonprofit management advice.
- Nonprofit Good Practice Guide

A library of information on fundraising, governance, accountability, volunteer management, marketing, etc. Also, a model report assessing the economic value to a community of the work done by nonprofits.
- Council on Foundations

This source provides donors and grantmakers with extensive general information.
- GrantSmart
- Useful for grant seekers, philanthropic organizations looking for other organizations with similar projects, or individual donors wishing to see how private foundations spend their money. THe most valuable feature is the "searchable Database of tax-related information for each of the over 60,000 private foundations that file 990-PF with the IRS."
- ProposalWriter
- This site can be searched or browsed and covers information on government grants and loans, grantwriting, international grants and procurement, government contracting, and small and minority business.
- UNM Midas Database of Funding Sources
- Midas is an online service which allows the University of New Mexico community to search a wide variety of databases for funding information and opportunities including grants, contracts, fellowships and sponsored support. Databases include ARIS: Biomedical Sciences Report, Social and Natural Sciences Report, and Creative Arts and Humanities Report; Reference Service Press: Funding For Minorities, Funding To Go Abroad, Funding For Women; Taft Directory of Corporate and Foundation Givers, NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts; CFDA (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance), Commerce Business, Federal Register; and the New Mexico Funding Directory. Must have a UNM NetID to access.
