Paw  Essential Search Tools -- Choosing a Database
To find journal, magazine, or newspaper articles, you need to use a database.

Which database(s) do I use?
It depends on your topic, and also on what kind of information, and how much, you need.

Multidisciplinary databases:
Use if you need just a few articles.
Particularly good for current information and for social topics.

Subject-specific databases:
For more indepth research on your topic. Subject-specific databases include many more articles in the specific subject area, but may not include full text.
Use the Database Advisor to locate databases for a particular subject.

What subject(s) relate to the topic of your paper?
You may not find a database that fits your research question exactly.

Think about your research question and determine the main aspects, or the main approaches you might take. Look for databases that cover those aspects.
