Gifts to the College help support the purchase of collections - paper and electronic - and help support improvements to equipment and facilities for our students. High-quality library research collections and well designed spaces remain critical to the recruitment and retention of the best students and faculty.
University Libraries Dean's Circle & Fund for Excellence
The Dean’s Fund for Excellence supports the strategic direction that the Dean sets for the college and impacts the success of faculty, staff and students at the University of New Mexico. The Dean’s Fund is used to support outreach and development efforts, to establish and deepen the relationships of the college with our supporters and our community, and for time-sensitive acquisitions.
Center for Southwest Research & Special Collections
The University Libraries Center for Southwest Research & Special Collections is a repository for diverse collections of original materials relating to New Mexico, the southwestern United States, Mexico, and Latin America as well as rare materials from around the world.
Zimmerman Library Historic Preservation Fund
Zimmerman Library is gorgeous, historic and loved. It is also three-quarters-of-a-century old and in critical need of stable funding for maintenance and preservation. The Zimmerman Library Historic Preservation Fund will enable UNM to protect and maintain this iconic structure and the services, knowledge and sense of place it represents.
Indigenous Nations Library Program
Even today, Native American students are the least likely of New Mexico's citizens to graduate from UNM. You can help change that, and change worlds in the process, by joining University Libraries in creating an open library space that will bring together a unique combination of wireless technology, cutting-edge computer systems, academic software, and specialized Native American databases.
The Tony Hillerman Collection Fund
Tony Hillerman donated his personal and professional papers and manuscripts to University Libraries. The Tony Hillerman Portal presents digital versions of his manuscripts, screenplays and correspondence and is available to anyone interested in Hillerman's writing. Funds will help support this ongoing project.
Improving Library Spaces
Funds donated will be used to provide the equipment and space improvements needed to satisfy the changing needs of our students. All four libraries are heavily used millions of visits each year. Changing study styles and technology need to be addressed regularly.
The Howard L. Karno Endowment for Latin American Pictorial Collections
University Libraries has a renowned Latin American collection. An important part of the collections are photographs and other historic and contemporary visual materials. See more at Latin American Collections.
The UNM University Libraries gratefully accepts gifts and contributions for the development of its collections. Gifts are considered with the same criteria as new acquisitions in terms of quality and relevance to the needs of UNM. In general we do not add duplicate materials to the collection. We do not accept journals or magazines.
Gifts can be dropped off at any of the four University Libraries branches. If you choose, you can complete a UNM Deed of Gift Form with your gift (optional). Gifts that are dropped off without the Deed of Gift Form will be considered anonymous donations.
The Library is unable to provide donors with a list or appraisal of their donation.
